Principal Engineer, Android Performance

• Own the architecture of Reddit’s Android Mobile App and make it scale to the next 100M+ DAUs.
• Identify the gaps in our current Android App Architecture, and lead redesign of the Android platform to improve modularity, performance, and quality.
• Help improve the developer experience by reducing the build times, providing a modular architecture, and improving the developer workflows.
• Help build the technical foundation for rapid experimentation without compromising on quality.
• Mentor Android developers across the company.
• Be the go-to person for developers on complex problems in Android development.

• Deep experience-based understanding of how to build Android applications at scale.
• Strategic thinker with a passion for developing scalable software improving global lives.
• 10+ years of Software development experience with at least 5+ years in designing/developing Android applications.
• Experience in influencing larger (200+ engineers) organizations on technical direction/best practices related to Android.
• Experience with modern Android development frameworks such as Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams such as design, product, and data teams to deliver great user experiences.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Engineering leadership experience working across multiple teams.
• At least 2 years of experience working on Ads products and/or growth engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams and driving alignment.
• Knowledge of full stack product development practices (Frontend, Mobile, Backend).

Pay range: $232K - $365K
